My 10 y/o son and his friend - just before they started 5th grade last summer - were talking about going to middle school as we were driving to one of their many sports activities. To set the stage, they are both alpha males, talented athletes, straight A students and can eat enough between the two of them to feed a small army. :) It went a little something like this...
Son's Friend: The best part of middle school is going to be lunch.
My Son: No, the best part is going to be recess.
Son's Friend: There isn't any recess in middle school.
My Son: What?!?!?
Son's Friend: Yeah, there's no recess in middle school.
My Son: Then you're right. The best part is going to be lunch.
I was driving at the time and almost choked I was laughing so hard - the boys didn't understand why (which for some reason made me laugh even harder). Sixth grade should be interesting!
