Buying an MA platform is a solid move for SFDC in light of the Oracle/Eloqua purchase last year, although I too am surprised at the ET choice (over Marketo, VR, or another platform). I think it's probably the weakest technically, although I am not an ET expert.
It will be interesting to see what happens to the market, and like Eytan, I'll be waiting to see if the SFDC/ET integration becomes a killer combo. However, based on their history of acquiring companies, it'll be at least a year before we see a solid integration between the 2 platforms. I wanted Radian6 to get really *integrated* with the Salesforce platform, and it's still not 100% there so many months later.
