I have a situation where a text field, let's call it "Annual Revenue (text)", is being used to store numeric data from the CRM. But because it's a text field Eloqua can't do the numeric calculation I need for lead scoring.
I've created a new field "Annual revenue (numeric)" which should get around this problem. The issue I have is how to get the existing data from field "Annual Revenue (text)" to the new field "Annual Revenue (numeric)".
I tried to create an update rule set to overwrite the "Annual Revenue (numeric)" field with the value from the "Annual Revenue (text)" field. However, Eloqua won't allow this. I now see that you can only overwrite data in a numeric field with data from another numeric field, not a text field.
Unfortunately due to a number of dependencies it is not possible to change the mapping from the CRM to synch to the "Annual Revenue (numeric)" field rather than the old text "Annual Revenue (text)" field. I thought of using a lookup table but the list of possible values in the "Annual Revenue (text)" field is too big.
Does anyone have any ideas on how I can solve this without exporting the data and doing it manually? I'm looking for an automated solution if possible.
