Custom implementation of Strict mode

I have been asked by a client to implement Eloqua tracking to the web site we run and manage for them.

In order to keep within EU regulations we have decided to implement ‘strict’ mode, which will show a banner that prompts the user, asking if they would like to opt in to tracking.

The problem I am facing is that our web site already requests certain pieces of information from users when they visit to ensure they see the correct data, via a similar banner.

I want to avoid having a complicated user experience that consists of two banners, instead I would like to integrate the additional question into our existing banner, e.g. provide my own UI for asking the user if they wish to opt in, and then somehow tell Eloqua via script when the user has opted in.

The only way I can think to do this is by manually injecting the Eloqua script when the user has opted in (in essence creating my own version of strict).

Is there a better approach? I’ve been unable to find anything from the documentation.

Thanks,

Marc
